Tryptone
Tryptone is a soluble, spray-dried powder produced through the controlled hydrolysis of proteins—typically derived from animal (casein, meat), vegetable (legumes), or microbial (yeast) sources. Utilizing acid, alkali, or proteolytic enzyme digestion, complex proteins are broken down into more readily assimilable organic nitrogen compounds.
As a foundational component in microbiological culture media, Tryptone serves as a multifaceted nutrient source. It provides essential carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) sources, as well as critical growth factors, vitamins, and trace carbohydrates necessary for the cultivation of a wide range of microorganisms.

Application Protocol: LB Medium Formulation
To prepare 1 liter of standard LB medium, utilize the following formulation:

Preparation Steps:
1. Combine the dry components with 1 L of distilled or deionized water.
2. Agitate the solution until all reagents are completely dissolved.
3. Sterilize via autoclaving at 121°C for 30 minutes.
