How it works
SEC separates particles by size as the sample passes through a porous resin. Exosomes are large enough to travel through the column quickly and elute early, while smaller proteins and other molecules enter the pores and come out later. This gives exosome-containing fractions that are largely free of the bulk of serum or plasma proteins.
