Mycoplasma Prevention Reagent, 1000X, 1 mL
A 1000X reagent for preventing mycoplasma contamination, added continuously to culture medium at 1:1000. It combines quinolone, tetracycline and macrolide antibiotics. The 1 mL bottle treats about 1 L of medium.
How it works
Mycoplasma have no cell wall, so everyday antibiotics like penicillin do not stop them. This reagent adds three antibiotic classes that do, a quinolone that blocks DNA replication and a tetracycline and a macrolide that block protein synthesis. Used at a low, constant dose, it helps keep mycoplasma from establishing in a culture. It does not replace good aseptic technique.
